Massage Therapy is an ancient therapeutic technique considered to be one of the oldest forms of treatment known to man. Massage therapy is the manipulation of soft tissues of the body to gain a therapeutic effect

What is Registered Massage Therapy?

Massage therapy consists primarily of hands-on manipulation involving a range of techniques to treat the soft tissue and joints of the body. The purpose of massage therapy is to prevent, develop, maintain, rehabilitate or augment physical function or relieve pain.

While many individuals might provide “massage”, massage therapy should be provided by a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT). An RMT is an individual who has completed a diploma program at a recognized school of massage therapy and who has passed a registration examination offered by the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario.

How can we Help?

  • Stress relief and associated conditions
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Muscle and related conditions such as spasms, strains, and sprains
  • Back pain
  • Repetitive strain injury
  • Circulatory and Respiratory problems
  • Pregnancy and labour discomfort

CHARLOTTE HANNAH (GUELPH)

Charlotte Hannah RMT 1As a former chronic pain patient herself, Charlotte is keenly aware of the effect living with pain has on all aspects of being. It is this experience that inspired Charlotte to pursue a career in massage therapy, with the aim of helping people living with pain reclaim their lives.

Throughout her time at the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy, Charlotte explored the effects of massage therapy treatment on both physical and mental wellness while providing massage to a wide variety of clients, including those receiving hospice care, as well as those living with intellectual disabilities and acquired brain injuries. Charlotte graduated with honours in 2018 and joined the Wilson Health Services team soon after.

Charlotte treats patients with specific musculoskeletal issues, as well as those seeking relaxation and stress relief. Regardless of the focus of the treatment, promoting mental wellness is always her goal. Rather than simply treating symptoms as they present, Charlotte aims to empower her clients to be active participants in their own healthcare. She’s excited to continue to help patients achieve their health and wellness goals as part of the Wilson Health Services team.
